	BERNARDS TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION BASKING RIDGE, NEW JERSEY REGULAR MEETING MINUTES EXECUTIVE SESSION 7:45 P.M. REGULAR SESSION 8:00 P.M.
	The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by President Bracaglia.

	PRESENT: Mr. Bernstein, Ms. Borushko, Ms. Bracaglia, Mr. Chiappetta, Mr. Finazzo, Ms. Hagaman (arrived at 7:49 p.m.), Mr. Miller, Ms. Seitz, Ms. Woolford
	ABSENT: None
III.	Statement of Public Notice
	This was a regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Bernards Township. Notice of the time and place of this meeting was provided and copies of that resolution were forwarded to the official newspapers as designated by the Board of Education and to the Township Clerk and a copy of the notice was posted on the bulletin board of Cedar Hill Annex.
IV.	Executive Session – 7:46 p.m. – Board Conference Room BE IT RESOLVED that the Bernards Township Board of Education shall meet in closed session to discuss the following: matters pertaining to specific personnel; and further BE IT RESOLVED that the matters discussed in closed session will be disclosed to the public as soon as and to the extent that such disclosure can be made without adversely affecting the public interest or without violation of the confidentiality of personnel. On motion by Mr. Finazzo, seconded by Mr. Bernstein, and approved by all present, the Board recessed into closed executive session at 7:46 p.m. On motion by Mr. Bernstein, seconded by Mr. Finazzo, and approved by all present, the Board returned to public session at 7:56 p.m. The Board reconvened the regular meeting in the Cedar Hill All-Purpose Room at 8:00 p.m.

VI.	Public Forum on Agenda Items No comments were made.
VII.	Student Representative’s Report Student Representative Christina Shurts reported smoking in bathrooms, the talent show and mid-terms.

IX.	Superintendent’s Report 1) "Neighborhood Model of Prevention" Presentation – Health Educator & Youth Services Coordinator Ms. Nancy Caira, Project Coordinator Municipal Alliance Ms. Amy Lewis and Substance Awareness Coordinator Dr. Barbara Bush reported on the success of the neighborhood coffees and the information gathered. 2) Business Administrator Mr. Joseph Barcellona presented the staffing portion of the 2001-02 budget.
X.	Committee Reports Finance Committee Chairperson Christopher Finazzo updated the Board on the committee’s meeting in regard to the school budget. Personnel Committee Report on Progress Policy Committee Chairperson Ann Marie Woolford reported that the committee’s next meeting will be held on Monday, January 15th, at 7:00 p.m. Curriculum Committee Chairperson Patty Seitz reported that the committee’s next meeting will be held on Friday, January 12th, at 9:00 a.m. Technology Committee Report on Progress Interschool Council Report on Progress New Jersey School Boards Association Report on Progress
XI.	Public Forum on Other Than Agenda Items
	Comments were made regarding the neighborhood coffees, a Reading Recovery update, the position of Assistant Superintendent, traffic at Liberty Corner School and community relations progress.

	Comments were made regarding speed zone posting at Liberty Corner School.
XIII.	Adjournment
	On motion by Mr. Finazzo, seconded by Ms. Seitz, and approved by all present, the meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
